The Tembele Ecological Training Division

The Tembele training division offers specialised modules for nature guide training, a variety of comprehensive short courses in a wide range of natural history subjects, which are available to formal institutions and private groups alike.

We are endorsed by, and conduct guide training through organizations including The Tracker Academy, The SANParks Honorary Rangers and Birdlife South Africa.

Tembele Ecological Services presents an interesting selection of short courses which appeal to a wide range of audiences including amateur naturalists, nature guides and natural sciences students. All courses are designed and presented by ecologist Joe Grosel who has conducted over 200 courses, practical workshops and tutorial presentations and trained close on 3000 individuals. Joe’s relaxed presentation manner, unique tuition style, vast knowledge and wealth of experience makes for very effective instruction and thoroughly enjoyable courses.

Guide Training

The training and mentoring of local nature guides throughout southern Africa has been an important feature of the Tembele training division's efforts over the past 15 years. Not only do we provide specialized lectures and short courses to existing guide training institutions but we also conduct personalized/customized tutoring of guides for tourism establishments in both nature guiding and hospitality skills.
