With close-on 300 resident and another 100 migratory species, Kruger offers diverse and prolific birding in a variety of landscapes including; open savannah, mixed woodlands, riparian zones, seasonal & perennial rivers, rocky inselbergs and grassy plains. Kori Bustard, Ostrich, Ground Hornbill and Secretarybird Starlings, Bee-eaters, Kingfishers, Rollers and Hornbills.

South African Endemics Birding Tour

We cover the length and breadth of South Africa specifically targeting close on 70 endemics in the Great Karoo, the West Coast, the Cape Peninsula the central grasslands, Lesotho, Zululand and the Drakensberg.

Best Bushveld Birding

This tour, in the Malaria free areas of the western Limpopo Province, is a great introduction to birding in the South African savannahs and woodlands.

Starting in Johannesburg the tour incorporates the Waterberg Mountain Range, the Nyl floodplain, the Polokwane Plateau and the arid western Soutpansberg region.

The unique ‘Fynbos’, coastal and mountain habitats of the Cape peninsula and beyond, are home to a diverse range of avifauna, from penguins to ostriches and two endemic families in sugarbirds and rockjumpers.

We visit the best sites within the peninsula, the west coast, the Agulhas plain and also include a pelagic excursion out of Simon’s Town.

South African Raptor Fest

Between December and April. Close on 40 raptor species and owls can be seen on this tour. Included in the tour plan are the grasslands of Mpumalanga, the savannahs and woodlands of the Kruger National Park, the forests of the eastern escarpment and the arid scrubland of the Mapungubwe National Park.

Apart from iconic African raptors such as the resident Martial Eagle, Bateleur and Secretarybird there will be a good selection of vultures, accipiters, falcons and Palearctic migrant species.

Based on the idyllic Sekoma Island in Zambia, we navigate the waterways of the Zambezi and Chobe Rivers to enjoy birding of the highest order.

Sought-after and seldom-seen species such as Pel’s Fishing Owl, African Finfoot, White-backed Night Heron and Lesser Jacana are just a few of the specialities that can be seen.

Most of the birding will be conducted from comfortable and very stable, aluminium river boats.
